Fratelli d’Italia critica Gianfranco Fini: le loro posizioni sui migranti

Giovanni Donzelli, the organizational manager of Fratelli d’Italia, responded to the statements made by Gianfranco Fini, the founder of the National Alliance (AN), regarding migrants and the need to revise the Bossi-Fini law. Donzelli emphasized that the political line of Fratelli d’Italia is not dictated by Gianfranco Fini.

In an interview with Il Fatto Quotidiano, Fini, who is also the former president of the Chamber of Deputies and a political mentor to Giorgia Meloni, stated that the law he co-authored with Umberto Bossi needs to be updated as it is now 20 years old. He explained that the Bossi-Fini law had a similar approach to the Turco-Napolitano law, which allowed economic migrants to stay in Italy only if they had a job contract. However, the international landscape has changed significantly over the past two decades, and the migration phenomenon has evolved. Today, it involves hundreds of thousands of people and is driven by major economic and social factors such as the North-South divide, social unrest, and the collapse of countries like Syria and Libya. Fini believes that these changes necessitate a revision of the law.

He also pointed out that the motivations of migrants have shifted. While in the past, only a few sought asylum, many now come to Europe escaping wars, famines, and persecutions. Fini stressed the need to address this issue on a supranational level, as no single country can handle such a massive phenomenon alone. He highlighted the fact that in twenty years, Nigeria alone will have more inhabitants than the entire European continent. Fini also mentioned that his law included quotas for regular entries, which led to the regularization of hundreds of thousands of migrants. He believes this is the model to follow.

In conclusion, Giovanni Donzelli clarified that Gianfranco Fini’s opinions do not reflect the official position of Fratelli d’Italia. While recognizing Fini’s contributions, Donzelli stated that the party’s political line is determined collectively and takes into account the current international context and the evolving migration phenomenon.
