L’ex di Calderon rivela: “Raul mi confessò di aver commesso l’omicidio Diabolik”
Rina Bussone, in a video connection from a secure location, confirmed the accusations against her ex-partner Raul Esteban Calderon in the trial for the murder of Fabrizio Piscitelli, also known as ‘Diabolik’. She testified before the judges of the Third Assize Court of Rome, accusing Calderon of voluntary manslaughter aggravated by mafia methods and illegal possession of firearms. Bussone, now under a protection program, reiterated the statements she made to the magistrates on December 13, 2021. She revealed that Calderon had told her he received 100,000 euros in cash and 4,000 euros per month for the murder, and that Leandro Bennato had paid for it because Diabolik was spreading rumors about him.
Bussone learned about Diabolik’s murder from the news on TV and immediately suspected Calderon. She recalled that Bennato had visited them while Calderon was under house arrest and had expressed his desire to kill Diabolik. Bussone disagreed, stating that they were only involved in robberies. However, when she heard the news of the murder, she immediately made the connection.
Bussone, currently under house arrest, described a robbery they committed in 2019, during which they stole a 9×21 pistol from a jeweler. She hid the stolen pistols, referring to them as “my babies,” on the landing outside her apartment. Bennato contacted her later, saying that there was a clear image of her during the robbery and that he had a friend in the police who provided him with that information. Bennato asked about the location of the pistols and took the 9×21 as evidence of the robbery.
Bussone mentioned that she had heard rumors that the victim of the jewelry store robbery knew it was her. Feeling threatened by her accomplices, who had not received their share of the money and had stolen a watch from the jeweler, she decided to leave and stay with a friend who had an empty apartment by the sea.
Bennato returned the 9×21 pistol to her after a short while. Bussone then told Calderon about the robbery and the pistols, including where she had buried them in the garden. Initially, when she heard about Piscitelli’s murder on TV, she did nothing. The news reported that the murder was committed with a 7×65 pistol, which seemed strange to her because Calderon’s pistol often jammed. However, when she checked the garden, the pistols were gone. When she confronted Calderon, he admitted to killing Diabolik with the 9×21 pistol.
