Mamma di Bologna sopravvive al tentativo di avvelenamento da parte del figlio: la sua storia

Monica Marchioni, a survivor of her son’s attempted poisoning that tragically took her husband’s life, spoke out this morning on Storie Italiane on Rai1. She commented on exclusive images that captured her and her son in a happy moment on her wedding day with her second husband. She described her son as a wonderful boy who was sweet, caring, and considerate towards others. However, she also noted a drastic change in his behavior, comparing it to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

“We were a beautiful family,” she continued. “I can’t explain it. Perhaps, speaking with ‘experts,’ he may have developed an illness, but that’s just my thought. He became devoid of empathy, to the point where I didn’t recognize him in his eyes that evening.”

Monica then recounted the dramatic moments of that night, emphasizing that her son was not depressed and had no drug problems. He wanted to inherit their estate. Although they were not millionaires, they had assets that he desired. Monica mentioned a previous conversation about the Bolzano murder committed by Benno, but her son remained silent. Since then, she began locking the bedroom door at night, which her husband found amusing. Furthermore, for his eighteenth birthday, they gave him a brand-name watch worth about 1200 euros. However, he asked if they could exchange it for a diamond bracelet because it wasn’t the brand he wanted. He always wanted more. He premeditated poisoning us for months. He never attempted suicide, despite accepting psychiatric help for his hypochondria, only attending a few sessions. He never sought help for mental issues. He only discussed suicide with us, not with his psychiatrist or friends. He tried and mentally exhausted us,” she revealed.

“He has never apologized or attempted to reconcile. There has been no contact, not even through his lawyer. I haven’t spoken to him, and I am not ready to. Because after that night, he not only tried to kill me but also subjected me to something almost worse: for a year, I felt blamed for being a murderer when I am a victim,” she said bitterly. “His father accompanied him to court throughout the first trial, but when he confessed during the appeal, he was alone. I must say something that may seem contradictory, but I am still his mother, unfortunately. In my heart, he is my son. I wasn’t there, but I saw on the news and heard from my lawyer that he was alone, and it caused me immense pain. It almost made me feel sorry for him; it’s absurd, but that’s how it is.”
