Pomeriggio5: Mediaset sceglie Merlino per entrare in Branchetti?
Myrta Merlino has been hosting Pomeriggio Cinque for a few weeks now (since September 4th, to be precise). The former face of La7 has taken on the heavy legacy left by Barbara d’Urso, and only time will tell if the change at the helm of the afternoon program will prove successful. However, a recent rumor has outlined a scenario that would be quite sensational.
Is Myrta Merlino being replaced on Pomeriggio Cinque? This is what Il Foglio has reported, providing the name of who could replace the former La7 host: Simona Branchetti, also known for Morning News. “There is talk of replacing Merlino, and soon, someone specialized, as those who work there say, in throwing towels and cups. There are moments of panic when Myrta touches her Coca Cola and realizes it’s not ‘cold enough’,” one can read.
Is Mediaset really intending to replace Myrta Merlino? Is the bet made by the broadcaster already considered lost? It seems not. The rumor reported by Il Foglio was commented on by Giuseppe Candela, a writer for Dagospia and Il Fatto Quotidiano, who clarified through a post on X: “‘Fantasy,’ sources from Cologno Monzese comment on the article from Il Foglio that announced the arrival of Simona Branchetti on Pomeriggio Cinque in place of Myrta Merlino. The journalist, after her good performance on Morning News, will return to hosting Tg5.” It appears, therefore, that Myrta Merlino can rest assured: there would be no sensational replacement in sight for her.
Pomeriggio Cinque: from a good start to rumors about its disadvantageous ratings
After a good start, the afternoon talk show hosted by Myrta Merlino is recording less than enthusiastic ratings. In fact, in the final segment, Pomeriggio Cinque falls below 13/14% share. A recent rumor had reported that Gerry Scotti was more agitated than usual due to the unsatisfactory ratings of Caduta Libera, and these rumors had also hinted at the television burden that Merlino brings, which, considering the ratings of Pomeriggio Cinque, may not be so advantageous.
Regardless of the veracity of this rumor, it should be noted that Caduta Libera has been struggling to take off for several months, often losing out to Marco Liorni’s Reazione a Catena on Rai 1.
And to think that Myrta Merlino’s debut on Pomeriggio Cinque had gone rather well. In fact, it was even better than Barbara d’Urso’s last three debuts. However, it should be emphasized that the curiosity surrounding this change at the helm of the afternoon talk show has also influenced the debut of the former La7 host.
