Sarah Nile: Capisco Barbara d’Urso, essendo madre e licenziata
Sarah Nile, ex contestant on Grande Fratello, recently shared her story on Instagram about being fired from her job without any notice. She questioned whether a woman can be fired for becoming a mother.
According to Sarah, the news of her dismissal came five months after the birth of her second child. She also mentioned that another colleague who had just given birth was fired before her. Sarah couldn’t understand why, as just a few days after receiving her termination letter on September 7th, another colleague was fired when she was only three months pregnant.
Sarah expressed her love for her job, which she often put before herself. She even continued working during her pregnancy, despite the challenges of undergoing assisted reproductive treatments. She described the sleepless nights, medications, hormones, visits, pregnancy tests, and medical procedures she went through, all while trying to give her best at work and hoping for a bright future both professionally and personally.
Sarah felt that her dedication clashed with outdated rules where being a woman, mother, and worker seemed incompatible.
She also empathized with Barbara d’Urso, who was let go from Pomeriggio Cinque this summer. Sarah understood how Barbara must have felt, as despite her years of dedication, passion, and professionalism at Mediaset, she was unable to prevail and couldn’t even say goodbye to her audience.
Sarah shared her story along with two photos. One was a pregnancy test with the word “fired” written on it, and the other was a message saying, “Why did I disappear? I will tell you what happened from September 4th to 15th. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.” Many people left supportive comments for Sarah, with some sharing their own difficult experiences in the workplace.
Sarah Nile became a mother for the second time on March 19th. She had previously talked about her challenging journey with assisted reproductive treatments and how she almost lost her baby. She had to undergo an emergency cesarean section when she stopped feeling the baby move due to the umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck. Despite all the hardships, Sarah was rewarded with the greatest joy: the birth of her daughter.
